Annette Maylam Counselling

BA (Hons) MBACP (Accred) Counsellor & Psychotherapist

Professional, Confidential Counselling in Wimbledon

Qualifications & Experience

I am an accredited counsellor/psychotherapist (MBACP) with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

I have a degree in person-centred counselling from Middlesex University and a diploma from the Metanoia Institute in London, a well-respected organisation dedicated to the training of counsellors. I also have a diploma in Psychological Counselling from Roehampton University.

I have chosen to focus my way of working on person-centred therapy which is part of the humanistic approach, and accords most closely with my own philosophy. The person-centred approach sees the relationship as being an important part of the healing and growth process. This process can help free one from past pain and allow one to be more forgiving of themselves and others.

I have worked with a wide variety of issues in therapy, and worked in a number of settings including: Wandsworth Bereavement Service, Cruse Bereavement Care, and Wandsworth Prison. I have particular interest in working with loss and bereavement and feelings of isolation, loneliness, anxiety and depression. I continue to work as a counsellor within the voluntary sector at the Wimbledon Guild Counselling Service, and Place2Be, working in primary schools giving children the opportunity to express their feelings through talking, creative work and play. I also have my own private practice.
